1:3 Downs/Patau

Hey all,

I'm 13w 2days pregnant, at my 12 week scan my NT was 4.7mm. My results have came back as 1:3 for DS and 1:13 for Patau Syndrome.

I am only 23, slim and healthy, 5ft5.

Why would my odds be so high??? I'm so distraught.

I've got a CVS test on Thursday and i am absolutely petrified ☹️

I’m so sorry you’re going through this OP. Both of these things are genetic, although being older & high BMI can increase your risk it is still something that can occur in any pregnancy regardless of age or weight. As your age and weight won’t be factors increasing your risk it will be the nuchal fold measurement & bloods results, wait for your CVS results, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you x

Just to ease your fear of the CVS it really isn’t painful at all. It’s a tiny prick (not even half as bad as if you get injected at the dentist) and then you feel nothing at all xxxx

Hi, sorry you're having a stressful time, it's a scary place to be. As others have said, although some factors like age and BMI may affect your chances, chromosomal differences can happen in any pregnancy. I hope your CVS wasn't too unpleasant and you get the results soon. Xx

It says 3 working days for the rapid results and two weeks for the others 🤞🏼x
