Can someone please help, at my 16 week scan I was told I was having a little girl, and looking at the scan photo I’m absolutely not convinced because what are they looking at?

can anyone else make sense of this photo?

I struggle with scan photos as well but what's important to remember is that the trained sonographer is looking at a live moving picture as opposed to a grainy still photo.
When they are looking to make sure baby is healthy, they will be checking what's the cord, legs, genitals etc, depending on gestation they can see the start of the reproductive system etc.
Of course, nothing is 100% but it's quite rare they get it wrong.
Hopefully you can confirm at your next scan

I agree - the sonographer will have been looking at a moving image' able to look at the right bits closely, and is trained to do so. The photos are really not great for this sort of thing.

Don't think about it - there's nothing you can ascertain either way until a later scan. 16 weeks is pretty early to be very confident about the sex of the baby, and I've known plenty of early sonographer guesses that were revised later on.

Either way, ruminating or asking people online won't bring you any real answers. File it under "likely" rather than 'definite', and you'll know one way or another soon enough.
