1 in 1,201 Downs Test

Hi all new on here. I have had combined tests and got 1 in 1,201 on downs test. I’m 37 and my best friend was also 37 on testing and had chance factor of 1 in 5000 so I’m worrried that I am much more a risk and considering private NIPT test but naturally quite expensive but may put mind at ease. Any advice appreciated thanks so much.

Those odds are brilliant! The chance of Downs is miniscule. If you'd been given, say, a 1 in 50 chance and would abort if you knew the baby had Downs I'd say get NIPT, but with those odds I'd just be thankful it was so unlikely to be an issue.

That's a great result, if you really must compare to others, read through some of the posts on this board where women have had much, MUCH, worse odds than that and their baby has not had DS

That result is completely fine, it’s under 150 to be high risk at my hospital.
Its people that get 1/80 or 1/20 or 1/3 etc etc that are more concerned at their odds

I would not be worried by those odds OP.

Agree with pp - DD was 1/30 and was fine (although I did have an amnio to check). Not to downplay your worry but at 37, that's a decent result.. I was 31!

Hey OP - I've made my own thread on this board as well - but I think if you can get an NIPT I would just for peace of mind. I know what the anxiety is like going through a pregnancy with worry. This is not to scare you but my result was 1:1300 and my NIPT (which everyone told me I wouldn't need to do) came back high risk and an amnio confirmed this. I will be TFMR soon
