Hello,
I am writing this post in the hope that some of you may be able to put my mind at ease. I am 23 weeks pregnant with my second and after my 12 week combined bloods was told we had a 1-71 chance of DS. 2 months before conceiving I had a missed miscarriage at 10wks and ended up in hospital for 3 days and then having to go back for surgical management so this just felt like another blow 😭
The high risk combined results I believe came mainly from my HG which was 5.something and the fact I am 34 but everything else was completely normal including NT of 1.3. I was referred for NIPT and fast forward the worst week of my life anxiously waiting for that call we were told we were low risk 🙏🏻
I then tried to put it all to the back of my mind and begin to enjoy this pregnancy and wait for the 20 week scan. We had our 20 week scan and everything looked to be normal but at the end I mentioned to the sonographer about the high risk combined test and she just said oh ok perhaps you’ll get extra growth scans?! I then asked again was there anything she had seen that could cause reason for concern as it was clear she hadn’t read my notes and she said no.
I’ve since seen a video circulating on social media regarding a girl who was going through the NIPT process and stupidly read the comments. There were quite a few saying NIPT is not accurate and that they’ve actually gone on to have babies born with DS after low risk NIPT. I’m upset I have even come across it to be honest because it’s set my mind racing again 😭 I know I’m probably being stupid but I guess I’m just looking for a little bit of reassurance of anyone that’s been through similar?
Thank you so much in advance x
