CVS vs Amniocentisis

Hi everyone. Has anyone had a CVS ? I'm 42 and pregnant with 3rd child. The risk of chromosomal problem is high for me. So I want this diagnostic test. I was going to ask midwife about amniocentisis but CVS can be done much earlier at 11 to 14 weeks. Has anyone had one? If so how was it and tell me your experiences xx

Have you had an NIPT done already?

Hi lovely. I had a CVS completed on Friday 26/7 at 12+6.

We had a high NT measurement of 4mm at our scan. I'm 38 and a T1 diabetic so all the risk factors 😂😬 odd we're 1 in 50 for DS and 1 in 64 for Edwards/Pataus, Bloods were in normal range at 0.92HCG & 0.99 PAPPA.

we chose to go right to diagnostic testing and not go for NIPT testing.

i only had a baby in January this year, so this pregnancy was a shock! He was 8 weeks early and was a complicated section which made the CVS potentially difficult.

The procedure was absolutely fine, not painful just uncomfortable as the needle went in, The pains/cramping for a few hours after were sore but nothing you can't handle if you've had a baby before! A bit like after pains or severe period pain.

we are just waiting for our results hope to get them tomorrow or Thursday!

if you need some moral support - inbox me. It's been an absolute rollercoaster. The waiting, not knowing etc. xxx
