Too much amniotic fluid and baby with small stomach

Hi,

I’m getting myself very worried after my latest ultrasounds. They discovered quite a lot of excess amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios) and then they noticed that the baby’s stomach was small. Reason currently unknown.
I’m hoping that someone else can share a positive outcome from a similar situation.

Thank you.

Hi OP. I’m currently 36+6 and have high fluid (poly) highest it’s been is 36cm!! Currently at 30cm however my babies stomach is measuring big.
How far along are you and do you have gestational diabetes? X

@AimeeLou84
I’m 27weeks, and I’m still waiting for my glucose results to come back, so I’m not sure yet.
Have you got it?

Yeah I found out at 26 weeks I had it. I’m on 4 metaformin a day and 2 rounds of insulin. It brings my bloods down but my fluid level is still so high 😫
Try not to worry about the small stomach, my measures have been so up and down!

I had polyhydramnios. Can't remember what my pockets of fluid measured but my bump measured 52cm at my 34 week appointment and then went down to 39cm when my waters broke at 35 weeks. Baby had a cleft palate.

Did you have GD too? Did it go after giving birth?

elliejjtiny · 05/07/2024 18:25

I had Poly, found at about 26 weeks when my bump was measuring huge. No GD. All was fine and no complications from it, just more regular scans.

Connie91 · 16/08/2024 23:56

how deep was your pockets at 37 weeks. I’m so nervous. It’s because I had a baby last year , had polyhydramnios from 28 weeks but she had duodenal atresia ( blocked stomach) she was still born at 31 weeks so it’s really threw me off today hearing this news

Twinmum216 · 22/01/2025 19:37

@Unicornfan1 how is your baby now?

Unicornfan1 · 22/01/2025 20:05

@Twinmum216
I’ve got a beautiful 4 month old baby girl, who is happy and healthy. I didn’t ever get any answers for why I had the excess amniotic fluid. I did have more scans and on those scan’s her stomach was a normal size. x
