Morning
Firstly I am so sorry you are in this position. Have you been given another appt yet? We had similar, our NT was 8mm and we were asked to come back 48 hours later to meet with a Consultant. Unfortunately he didn't really have anything to add, and they just referred us to Fetal Medicine at a bigger hospital and it took 2 weeks for that appt.
What was incredibly useful was meeting with the Screening Midwife, who was there to explain all the processes and ask as many questions as we wanted.
Has anyone mentioned the possibility of a NIPT test? This was offered to me on the NHS as we had the NIPT and our blood tests came back very high risk for the three trisomies (T21, T18 and T13). In my area it can only be done on a Monday and Tuesday, then it was a bank hol, so I had to wait almost a week for the test and then a week for the results.
It is also available privately for around £500.
Was the charity ARC? It is excellent, I read a lot of the case stories on that website after our scan.
My story
Sadly our NIPT came back high risk for T18 and we started the termination the following day at our Fetal Med appt, when I was 14 weeks. Some people choose to have a CVS to diagnose but our baby was clearly very unwell and that was just going to delay the inevitable by a further week. It had already been two weeks by that point and I couldn't be in that limbo any longer.
Our baby was so very much wanted, and had taken us a long time to conceive. 5 months on from the termination I have just found our I am pregnant again and hopeful for the future.
If you want to ask any questions please do.
