Hi, does anyone know what kind of stuff the second part of CVS tests for and whether you get a list when it comes back to whether it just comes back with yes/no to specifics? Struggling to find information but want an idea as feels like a lifetimes wait before the full results are through (I’ve had the results for the Down/Edwards/Pateu syndromes). Thanks in advance :)

No I don't know but just wanted to offer a hand hold. The wait can feel like a lifetime can't it

Hi OP, I’ve just been through the wait so I feel for you, it’s so tough.

I did not receive a list as such, but my results came back clear so was told just that. I’m not sure if that differs if something is detected. Sending you handhold for this tough time

ah okay that makes sense! I didn’t know if you’d find out what you were ‘cleared’ from - but assume if they do find something they tell you what it is to make the decision! The wait really is horrible - find myself glued to my phone. Did your array results take the full 2/3 weeks to come back? & Thank you for the message - really appreciate it 💓

I was given a general answer.

I had cvs in 2010 and I remember searching this. What happened was that I got a phone call back from a nurse or a midwife earlier than the time they initially said to wait, who told me baby does not have Downs (which was high risk) nor any chromosomal syndromes. She mentioned other major syndromes that also came up clear and she was happy to answer when I asked about other syndromes. I did have to have an additional heart scan or two for baby. Thankfully all was well. DC is now 13 and healthy.

I remember her saying there were hundreds of chromosomal syndromes that were tested for or something like that.
The heart scans were to check for structural problems as chromosome issues were ruled out by cvs.

Ah thank you so much for your message and so glad to hear that everything went well with your pregnancy and that you have a healthy child! I’ve done a bit of research on the most common ones but don’t have any knowledge of anything genetic so will see what comes back! Yes, I’ve been told I’ll have a scan at 16 weeks to check the anatomy etc. again. It’s all been okay so far so fingers crossed! Thank you again 🌺
