High risk Down’s syndrome screening result

Hello everyone! I’ve been a silent follower for a while but wanted to share my own story to see if anyone’s experienced something similar and to hopefully occupy my mind over this horrendous week wait 😞

My combined screening came back high risk for Down’s syndrome with a 1:73 chance. I’m 33 years old (34 on EDD) and have identical twin girls who are 5 years old, with which I suffered with preeclampsia.

My results came back as
hcG 3.18 (which I know is high)
Papp-a 0.85
NT 2.0

The screening midwife didn’t seem concerned at all by my blood results or high hCG but I’m doing nothing but worry. I’ve just had the NIPT test so I know this week will be awful while I wait for the results, one minute I feel positive and the next I can’t hold back the tears.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and what was your outcome? Sending lots of love to anyone who is going through this 😞💕

I had this, had an amino which showed baby was fine.

Thank you for replying, what odds did they give you if you don’t mind me asking?

So you have a 72 out of 73 chance your baby does not have Down's? If so, a gambler would be overjoyed with those odds.

Very worrying though I know.

I had 1:25 risk but I was 44 at the time so age related. I also had an amnio, which didn't hurt, and showed ds was fine.

I just wanted to update this in case anyone comes across it while searching for similar experiences like I did..

Got the results from my NIPT and I’m low risk for all 3 syndromes 🤍

Thank you! I had mine first thing Tuesday morning so I’m praying it’s today I don’t know how much longer I can go on worrying x

I'm going through this now. Got the phone call today saying I was high risk with 1:117 chance of downs syndrome. And i can't do anything but lie in bed and think about it. Got my NIPT tomorrow and I just hope I don't have to wait too long for the results. I'm glad your NIPT reassured you. Have you had your baby now? ')😊

I gave birth on the 2nd August and my baby boy does not have Down’s syndrome and he’s perfect in every single way. I know how easy it is to worry because I drove myself insane but I’m sure everything will be absolutely fine. Wishing you all the best for your NIPT result 🤍
