So today me and my husband went for our 12 week scan. We have a 3yo and have been trying for another baby since the back end of 2021. Due to this, we were able to access early scans. On the first one at around 5 weeks, it showed two sacs however on the next scan about 7 weeks there was only one. We had looked into this and it is fairly common.
So today wasn't our first scan but today baby wouldn't get into a good position to be measured. The sonographer was prodding and poking me to get baby to move but he/she wouldn't. So I had to do some wiggling and then take a walk. Again she still struggled to get measurements.
She did eventually get some, and was measuring at 13 +2 or 13+3 on some others. We had asked for all the tests so she did the NT and it was measured at 3.8mm at the highest. It was 3.6mm at one point.
So we had the chat in the quiet room but I'll be honest, my mind was in overdrive and I didn't know what to think.
I had my bloods taken over a week ago and nothing abnormal came back but they have taken them again today to put them together with todays results to give me a result. I'm also 36 so I think there is a high chance the results will come back 'high risk'.
Just absolutely gutted and don't know what to think. Sick of trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel on google. It's frying my brain.
The midwives did say it could be nothing, but it also could be something. Many women get high scores but they end up with nothing to worry about.
I have an appointment for a detailed scan (I think) on Monday. I'm not really sure what they will entail and whether that will give me a better idea of what we're dealing with.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
