Who should come to my ultrasounds?

Hey so I have a repeat ultrasound on Monday due to the 28week scan being unclear due to baby's position. My baby's dad has attended all appointments and ultrasound's up until now but for this one coming up, my mum wants to come...
Is it wrong for me to want her to attend instead of the baby's dad on this occasion? I'm scared to tell him that my mum is going to come with me as I know what he and my friends will say about it.

Are you with him? Or is the relationship over?

StSwithinsDay · 12/01/2024 23:16

And why would you be scared of what he and your friends will say?

Since it's a repeat ultrasound, id consider it a bonus one and invite your mum

Also, screw his friends

Do you want her to come in preference to the baby’s father or is it more that she wants to come and you don’t want to disappoint her? If the latter then I think she should be disappointed. She really shouldn’t be trying to insert herself at the expense of the father, however it is your body and your medical procedure so if you really want her there then it’s up to you.

I personally don’t think anyone should be there, it’s private and I think only you should be there no dad no nothing

sadnc · 12/01/2024 23:24

You're scared of him?

SarahB88 · 12/01/2024 23:27

I’m not sure I understand the issue, is there more to this?

I had to get an additional 20 week scan, my partner couldn’t come because of his shifts so I took my mum. He was happy my mum got to experience it and was glad I wasn’t on my own.

GrazingSheep · 12/01/2024 23:27

@sadnc
She is scared of what he will say
She is also scared of what her friends will say

if tou are scared of him he shouldn't be at any of your medical appointments. If you are not even with him he shouldnt be at your medical appointments.

I had a lot of ultrasounds as was expecting twins. I mostly went to them on my own.
Of you are worried about offending people OP, just go on your own and treat yourself to a nice coffee and cake in the hospital canteen. I used to enjoy those appointments!

You're scared? Of what, his reaction, are you together?
