Hi
I am 28 weeks this week. My previous health board were going to run a Glucose intolerance test because of both parents having diabetes. However, I’ve moved to a new health board and they said that wouldn’t qualify me for one. Is this normal? Should I have a private test? At 27,3 days private scan, the baby was 1116g. Is this normal? Thanks!

I qualified because gestational diabetes runs on my maternal side (mum, sister both had it). I did indeed have it. Baby was normal size (well a little on the smaller side, but nothing to do with GD).

From what I've read if you have an immediate family member with diabetes, you are at higher risk.

show them the NICE guidelines and ask for a GTT, one parent with diabetes would be enough to make you at increased risk
