My doctor said not to worry, can I be reassured?

Baby at 25 weeks pregnant is measuring at the 3rd percentile for HC (head circumference). All other measurements are above the 50th percentile mark. BPD is at 56th percentile.

i called the doc today and she explained that the reading could be inaccurate and it’s more likely that the HC is at 10th percentile. She didn’t mention anything during last scan and has not highlighted this as an issue. She told me that it’s not something to worry about

I know I should trust the doctor but can I be fully reassured? I hope she wasn’t saying all of this just to make me feel better and in a few weeks they will give me the actual diagnosis

It's so easy for them to say "don't worry" and so hard not to isn't it?

Have they done any tests at all @Summergurl2023?

All three of my babies were significantly smaller than their measurements just prior to birth. If everything is proportionate, I wouldn’t stress either.

The OP said that everything isn't in proportion. The head is measuring much less.

When you say the Dr, do you mean the GP? or Doctor at the hospital?

Was the babies head small at your anomaly (20 week) scan? Or just at a later growth scan? And have you been scanned by a consultant in fatal medicine?

Lots of questions! There will always be babies with smaller heads, most will be fine, a very small number may have another issue, but you should be seen by a fetal medicine consultant depending on your answers above.

Also look at yours and DH's heads. Both me and DH have largish heads so it was no surprise that DS has too. Could it be that you both have smallish heads?

When I mean doctor, I’m referring to my gynecologist. Where I live the Gyno does a scan every month to check the baby’s growth. At 20 weeks I had the anatomy scan with another gynecologist. He is the one who will deliver my baby. At the 20week scan the head circumference was 24% and everything else was in the 50 and above range. At 25 weeks, the HC has gone to 3% and everything else is still at around 50% or above.
what exactly is a fatal medicine scan? Not sure we have those where I live. 😑

DH has a relatively small head but It’s still within normal range. I think I have quite a large head for my body 😑

No, since the anomaly scan did not show apparently show anything unusual they haven’t done any additional tests. I called the gyno to ask why the HC is at 3% and she said it’s probably a wrong measurement. She said if something was wrong it would have been picked up on the anomaly scan. I can’t help but still worry because the % has drastically dropped down .. :/
