Strep B test

just before my first pregnancy I got a strep B diagnosis. And the midwife put me on an antibiotic drip during labour, just in case.

now with my second pregnancy is there a way to get a private strep b test? In uk?

I will raise this with my midwife and consultant when I see them next but I’m concerned they won’t give me one through nhs. I only have a few weeks left until delivery.

My midwife is being very vague about things too. I had antibiotics in labour 2nd pregnancy after they found it with swabs during my 1st labour. 3rd time she's just saying they don't routinely test for it. But it's stressing me out so I'm going to test privately if they won't.

Thank you both. I’ll go for private too if they refuse.

around what week do you think o should go? How late should I leave it for?

Its recommended between 35 and 37 weeks. That website I linked has loads of really helpful information.

Yes you can privately test but NICE guidance is the hospital should be either offering you testing or IV antibiotics in labour as you tested positive last time
