Hi Ladies,
I did the GTT test for gestational diabetes earlier in the week. I fasted from 10pm the night before but on the morning of my test i woke up and had a sip of black currant squash, i completely didnt think!
I have just had a call from hospital as my result was 7.9 and cut off was 7.8. They asked me to attend a diabetes clinic. I explained about the sip of drink and they have asked me to either take my blood sugars for 2 weeks or have the test redone in 2 days. I am going to have the test redone.
Do you think a mouthful of squash could of affected my result? I already have health anxiety so dreading a positive result after truly fasting!

It could have affected but not by this much. Just my unqualified opinion.

it’s more likely that you have gtt.

in any case you need to fast and know for sure. if it’s within limits, ask if you’re borderline high and can repeat in 4 weeks or so, as you can still develop it later in pregnancy.

Also ask them what symptoms there are so you can watch out for. But I know plenty of women who had gtt with no symptoms.
