Had our 12 week scan today and were informed our baby has a NT of 12.6. We are being referred for tests later this week but I am aware the likely outcome is very bleak.

I’m not going to ask for stories to give me hope as I know this number is pretty much off the scale. I am just posting because I love my baby (and I loved seeing their little legs and arms moving today, it was gorgeous and we were so joyful before we got the bad news) and I wanted to write that down and share it somewhere.

Sending love OP. I think it’s good to share how you are feeling, and where better than on here. I’ve experienced a high NT but not as high as that. I’m sure others on here will be able to relate. Sending strength for the tests to come x

I know this was posted a week ago and I suspect you've had to face more bad news but I just wanted to reply. We had an even higher NT back in August and it didn't end well. We still both love that baby and will never forget her. Let me know if you want to talk.

@Thefrogwife thank you for your message and I am so sorry for what you have been through. My sincere condolences for your daughter.

Thank you for making me feel less alone.

So far we haven’t received more bad news but we are aware that it is likely to arrive. At our CVS appointment we were told our NT measurement had been mis-measured and was 10.1 rather than 12.6. Still too high for optimism though. There is also a large cystic hygroma. Downs or Turner’s syndrome were suspected.

However our initial CVS results were negative for the most common chromosomal conditions. They will now check for the less common chromosomal conditions and I will also have an amniocentesis in early January. They suspect if it isn’t chromosomal it is likely to be a heart condition.

We are realistic that the initial CVS results are likely just a temporary reprieve.

I am sorry for what you have been through and I am sure it still feels very raw. I feel fortunate to be in limbo at the moment if that even makes sense, I dread the moment that I am presented with a diagnosis that will force my hand.
