Brain anomaly on 12 week scan

Hi all,
I am hoping someone has some experience of this. We have had our 12 week scan (albeit at 13 weeks) and they have referred us to a fetal medical unit.

Baby looked fine apart from when they looked at the top of the head they said one side of the brain looked smaller than the other. They couldn’t tell us if this was significant or not so needed advice on it. I can’t find anything online about this at all being an issue or see what it could even mean or be. They have not given me anything to go on and I’m now just waiting for a call for next steps.

Has this happened to anyone else? What was the outcome?

Thank you.

It's not happened to us although we did have a different brain anomaly at the dating scan.

Have you got a date for when you go back yet?

I can imagine that you're finding things a little difficult right now Flowers

Hi PritiPatelsMaker, yes we go this Thursday, hard not to go down a google rabbit hole but I can’t find much information.

I just hope they can give me an answer on Thursday as I don’t think I could take much more waiting. This is an IVF baby and it’s taken us three years to get here.

I hope things turned out well for you in the end? Thanks for the reply 💕x

I think that makes it super tough for you Flowers

As I said ours was a very different problem with the brain and unfortunately that didn't work out but sounds completely different from what you're experiencing.

So sorry to hear that. Incredibly difficult to have to go through that x
