So you have your results and next to it you have how they look compared to MOM (median).

They want to see MOM around 1.

your nuchal scan is very good, close to 1, hCG is raised, double the median, and your PAPP-a (a marker for placenta’s function) is low, but just within the range they don’t worry about (>0.5).

hCG could be raised if you’re having a girl, it’s higher for girls - that’s what I’ve read.

all in all they gave you a very good assessment, low risk for all.

It’s not a diagnostic, some babies with DS get low risk too. A more accurate test is the NIPT (or harmony or panorama, under different names).

hope this helps.

@CristinaNov182 Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it all to me - really appreciate it:) had NIPT done yesterday but thought understanding this might calm my nerves in the dreaded 2 week wait. I've been convinced I'm having a girl from day 1 (no preference though) so we will soon see if I'm right. As long as baby is happy and healthy I'll be happy😍

Good you’re having the nipt, I got high risk with both pregnancies but would have done it even if I got low risk.

the results might come back earlier, like in a week, fingers crossed.

I know it’s easier to say than to do, but you don’t have any reasons to be nervous, try to distract yourself as much as you can.

good luck and hope all goes well for you

let us know if it’s indeed a girl (I’m having a girl too and hCG mom was indeed 2.2 or 2.6)

Congratulations! Wonderful news, I’m very happy for you.

so high hCG doesn’t mean necessarily a girl good to know 😀
