Gender Scan

Just over a week until my 20 week scan, I paid for a private gender scan at 16 weeks 5 days, the lady told us what baby was, however I'm on pins because I haven't seen a potty shot from the scan, so I'm constantly wondering if she's got this right or not especially with baby not been overly cooperative during the rest of the scan 🙈

If you had a early gender scan, was all still correct at your NHS 20 week scan?

I assume most people that find out the sex at 16 weeks are told the same at 20 weeks but even then it's not always correct.

HighlandPony · 06/10/2022 22:51

Yep. Every time.

BIWI · 06/10/2022 22:53

Sex, not gender.

allthingssparkly · 07/10/2022 08:03

@PinkButtercups I know, it's still putting me on edge 🙈 the lady that did the scan is probably right but I can't help but worry if she is wrong. I have had a look at the scan photo, and thought I saw something that would indicate a little boy but now I'm not convinced 😆

E-mail them and ask to send you the potty shot. The place I went to keeps all the images for some time.

allthingssparkly · 07/10/2022 10:26

@lemongirl1985 oh really, I wonder I the place I went to would do the same? My scan was at the end of September.

Actually @lemongirl1985 I'm not sure if the lady actually took images of the potty shot as she looked on her screen first to check whether it was a boy or a girl before turning on the larger screen so we could see baby, if that makes sense 😊 all the images after the scan that I saw on the computer were all profile ones, not potty shots as we didn't wanted to find out in the scanning place because we were doing a confetti gender reveal later that day. May I message them to ask.

They get it right most of the time but I know 2 women that were told the wrong sex, one a boy and it was a girl and the other a girl when it was a boy. It happens but it’s not common. It doesn’t really matter anyway unless you’re all only pink for a girl and blue for a boy which is ridiculous.

SalviaOfficinalis · 07/10/2022 10:35

Mine was correct (boy).

If they said it was a boy that’s more likely to be correct because they must have thought they’d seen his boy bits.

Girls more likely to be incorrect as the baby could have just been at the wrong angle and hiding his bits.

allthingssparkly · 07/10/2022 10:37

@MissingNashville I've been told it's boy, however baby wasn't cooperating for most of the scan so I don't know how initially she managed to determine the sex of baby that's what putting me on edge. No I'm not bothered about the whole pink or blue aspect. I just want reassurance, maybe I'll ask the scanning place if they can provide me with a potty shot image, like the above lady said if not I will be waiting for my NHS one.

Just hang on til your 20wk scan, they'll tell you there, if baby is cooperating.

allthingssparkly · 07/10/2022 10:39

Thanks @SalviaOfficinalis😊

I did a gender urine test and it was correct as was 3D scan and 20w scan (boy)

Why don’t you just wait? What’s the rush. You do know you’ve got another 20 ish weeks to wait after this to hold your baby. 😅

allthingssparkly · 07/10/2022 11:15

There isn't a rush, I'm just impatient 🤣 well aware of that thank you @MissingNashville I have been through pregnancy twice before!

@Flamingle18 thank you, never heard off gender urine tests, glad your were both correct.

@PinkButtercups Just got in contact with the scanning clinic now, I didn't even know this 🙈

Hey x i had a private scan at 17 weeks, asked them to put sex in an envelope, opened it and it was a boy. Since then i wanted reassurance and asked for potty shot (which i have attached)... I then questioned the sex and said are u sure its a boy and she said no its a girl? So im massivly confused.. What's everyone think? I got a free rescan with the place later today so ill let u know the outcome... But yes think they may have got mine wrong i dont know?

That’s a girl i can see three lines and nothing sticking out

but you can also see your personal details on there so might want to remove ?

allthingssparkly · 11/10/2022 10:44

@Bectay35x your potty shot image looks very girly to me, I'll attach mine just so you can see the difference. At least they're offering you a rescan for reassurance x
