Hi, i had my 12 week scan today and they found a protusion at the back of my baby's skull, possibly an encephlocele. She said it looks like anencephaly but there is some skull, because it's a bank holiday there was no fetal medicine available but she said from what she has seen the prognosis is probably not good.
This is my second, my first has a congenital brain abnormality but no where near this severe. We knew there was chance of this baby having the same thing but because she has no genetic diagnosis we had no definitive risk.
I feel like an idiot for thinking it would work out. I really don't want to have a termination but I can't see another option.
We will hopefully hear from fetal medicine tomorrow and get some answers. I'm not sure why I am posting this except I could really use a hand hold.
