Low PAPP-A

Just had my screening results back from my NHS dating scan and it's thankfully low risk for downs, Edward's & patau's at 1 in 4500 however my PAPP-A is slightly low at 0.3 so I need to start aspirin, however I'm now very scared this means something bad is going to happen later on, I didn't even know what it was until today! Anyone been through similar?

I think that most PGs progress quite normally although I can understand that it's left you feeling a little stressed.

Did they check your BP and Urine and offer you extra growth scans?

Did they mention using Count the Kicks in the third trimester too?

@PritiPatelsMaker I had those done at my last booking in appt with midwife at 10 weeks and I go back in 3 weeks for my 16 week appt so will have all that checked again, and I already have a growth scan booked for 28 weeks so I'll ask about extra ones too. It seems that once one worry passes another crops up! Just want baby to be happy and healthy

Hey. It can be very scary when they first mention this - I also have low Papp-a. I’ve had extra scans throughout and I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant. Baby was measuring smaller but has had a big growth spurt towards the end and since stopping aspirin! All looking healthy and have another scan tomorrow. Just waiting game for baby to arrive now 😀 There is a great Facebook group for low Papp-a which is worth joining too. Good luck and please don’t worry too much, they will just keep a closer eye on you - just in case!
