NT 2.9mm & High probability Harmony

Hi all,

I had my 12 week scan this week (11w4d according to LMP, 12w according to scan). NT was 2.9mm. Doctor said NT was a little high but within the norm and she was quite happy with results as everything else looked ok. We were still waiting for Harmony test results which came back yesterday with a high probability for T21 (Downs). For context, I’m 37 and had a MC 2 years ago - baby was not developing well (always measuring a few days/week behind) and I ended up mc at 10 weeks. So the test results this time were devastating news as everything seemed to be going well so far, really day and night when compared to previous pregnancy - we managed to conceive quite quickly, no spotting at all and all the scans we had so far were ok! I know Harmony usually doesn’t give false positives but I’m still keeping that little hope that CVS next week could show everything is ok, although I know unlikely. If Downs is confirmed we have decided to terminate. I’m feeling really sad and would just like to know if anyone else had a similar situation but had a healthy baby later? Right now I’m just so scared of going through another pregnancy…

Hi @Set123 I’m so sorry for what you’re going through :(

I don’t have direct experience I’m afraid but our youngest son had a high NT (4.7mm) and it was an anxious wait (after losses too - one of which sounds similar to what you’ve been through before 💔) whilst all the tests were happening. I can relate to the anxiety of having worries about a pregnancy particularly after previous losses - I was in a really bad way, just so worried - the doctors told us we had a 50% chance of things being ok but by some miracle our baby had negative tests, arrived safely and it was put down to just one of those things. I’m sending you love - I too have heard that a false positive for T21 is unlikely with the Harmony test but I’m holding you in my heart and thinking of you at this most difficult time xxx

I just had my first trimester blood screening results back- as high risk.

The NT on ultrasound was 1.6mm (which is within normal range) but my b-HCG is 3.02 (too high) and PAPP-A 0.57 (too low). We were told we have a 1 in 212 chance of Downs.

We have a private Harmony test tomorrow and NHS NIPT test on Monday- doing both just to be safe. But it’s a week wait for results so wondering if anyone else had these results and got a negative NIPT/Harmony test? It’s just so worrying 😢

@AndyMum can I ask what the outcome was? My results are nearly identical to yours.
Currently waiting on my NIPT

We’ve experienced similar: my results were:

hCG : 6.31 MoM (yes, insanely high)
papp-a 0.32 (very low)
NT 1.0mm (perfect)

this indicated 1 in 5 chance of Down syndrome. NIPT was positive. CVS postive. We TFMR reasons.

we want to try again asap but like you, we’re petrified of another loss :’(
wishing you luck. I had so much hope my results would come back fine each time and the hope did get me through those days.

I’ve poster full story on the antenatal thread if you wanted to read more.

good luck. Xxx
