So I went for my '12 week scan' but I was actually 15+4 didn't get a scan sooner due to admin error.... they couldn't do the downs testing measuring the spine at that stage. So same day they said would I like quad bloods taking. I said yes. Few weeks later got a lettee to say chances for downs was very low and it was showing 1 in 90000 . So that was a relief. Fast forward today got a letter to say during said quads they test for other things and one of 2 hormones (inhibin A and AFP ) was showing as higher than normal. Rang my midwife she clarified it was the AFP thar was high. I'm due for my 20 anomoly scan in two week. But I just want to know what this means etc or if anyone has had any experiences with this. The Internet has scared the life out of me as AFP relates to spinal conditions and neural tube defects.
My health - im 31 , scored 1 as high risk purely as my bmi is a little high but other than that not been told any other worry factors. At my scan at 15+4 they said main organs appeared normal measurements for dating was fine etc
Trying not to worry but have two weeks to wait 😞
