Hi all

After suffering a missed miscarriage in the summer I had thought this pregnancy was going well but anomolys were found at our 20 week scan and we have been told to terminate and that there is no chance of a good outcome.

I am utterly devistated and heartbroken beyond belief and I'm not sure how I'm going to go through with this .

I'm also so uncertain of the procedures as my mind just went blank when the doctors were speaking where it will be labour or if its possible to have a d&e?

Would anyone mind sheding some light on their experience and recovary I just do not know what to expect

Thanks x

Hi @Nickyloui I haven't had any personal experience of this but I am so sorry you are going through this. Did you speak to a screening midwife/fetal medicine? If you have their contact details maybe you could give them a call or email to find out more information. Lots of people recommend the charity ARC arc-uk.org for information and they have a helpline.
This must be a heartbreaking situation, I hope you find the support and answers to any questions you need soon x

I had to deliver at 20 weeks after the scan revealed my baby girl had died inside me a couple weeks before. I was given tablets to start labour and went through a fairly standard vaginal labour to deliver her. It wasn't as painful as full term delivery although I had every pain relief going (not an epidural) as obviously there was no risk of meds causing harm to the baby in this case. The delivery itself was much less painful too, due to her tiny size.

Sorry if my description sounds cold or blunt, I'm just trying to be factual but obviously it was one of the toughest things I've ever had to do and I'm so so sorry you are facing this.
