Screening results; High Risk for Downs

I received my 12 screening results yesterday; the dreaded telephone call.

My risk for DS is 1/54. I have booked an amniocentesis diagnostic test for two weeks time.

Has anyone had similar or "worse' results than mine where everything was ok in the end??

Trying to stay positive but I am scared as I've got quite attached to the little one and the thought of being their mother.

Quite disconcerting i'm sure. Currently in a comparable situation myself.

On flip side, 1/54 means there's 98% chance that fetus is completely free of Trisomy 21. Initially (due to an error) we were told 1 in 2 (was actually 1 in 5000).

Best of luck.

I have a child with Downs if you have any questions Smile.

My screening test came back 1/28.
Scan normal. NT measurement 2mm
Age:41.
IVF baby.
HCG 3.3 - three times higher than their normal range.

All these figures made me high risk. But wasn't explained to me prior to me having the test.
So Ive spent a week in the most atrocious anxiety waiting for my NiPt test which has come back as low risk.
I had OHSS after my treatment and this may have caused my elevated HCG level....my ovaries are still very swollen.
I was lucky as I qualified for NHS funded test but I would pay privately any day of the week. Could you have this test before committing to the amniocentesis?

@Dutchmum1980 I'm sorry you gave had such a worrying time. I'm glad you have received low risk results from the NIPT. We have been offered this too (and would have gone private if not offered it) but for us we really want a definite yes or no so have opted to go straight for the amenio. This two weeks is going to really drag. I just hope little one is ok.
