Hi,

Sorry it’s a long one.

I had my son 4 years ago. No major issues in pregnancy apart from treated for HG. Pregnancy was midwife led. Birth was forceps but apparently no issues/resus/no NICU stay. Became apparent after a few weeks he wasn’t fixing and following/smiling. Told HV and it was dismissed. GP did 8 week check I explained my concerns and she referred him to paediatrician. Consultant saw him referred him for further tests and more issues arose. Anyway 4 years on he is developmentally around 9 months old, epilepsy and other issues. Genetic testing hasn’t shown anything identifiable at the moment but might do in the future.

Now pregnant again. Midwife referred me to consultant due to sons problems, which I’m happy about. However they don’t think I need to be seen by fetal medicine as he doesn’t have a genetic condition. However on a 12 week old MRI of his brain it found abnormalities which I know can be picked up via ultrasound in pregnancy. Should I push for further medical input?

It's a difficult one but I think I would.
