Awaiting results

I had my dating scan last Thursday and I'm so anxious about getting the results back for the NT/blood test chromosome checks. It's all I can think about. After having two miscarriages very early on in the past, I just hope that this pregnancy is completely successful. What can I do to keep my mind from thinking about it? I recently bought some maternity clothes because my jeans are so tight and I'm worried I'm going to jinx this pregnancy by doing that. I know it sounds silly, but I can't bear the thought of anything going wrong.

Waiting is awful isn't it? Is there anything that you can do together that might take your mind off things for a while?

Me and DH used to go out for a meal, usually Toby Carbery so that I could fill up my PG hungry belly Smile

I'm back at work on Wednesday, so I hope that work will take my mind off it. But until then... it's all I seem to think about.

It is really hard, I know. Think you might need to try a few things and see what works for you. Fir me it's running, yoga and guided meditation that help to still my mind.

I love yoga and meditation. I'm also trying to write a novel. But they're not holding my attention well. Do you know of any yoga videos that are perfect for doing at 13 weeks? I used to follow Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube but found it was too tiring when I found out I was pregnant.

I have looked at my maternity notes (didn't realise it was in there) and have found that my NT is 1.2mm. This seems great. I just hope my age (36) and bloods don't make the risk high.

It’s never nice to wait! I listen to podcasts to try and stop my mind wandering (headphones works best for me) if you get into an interesting series it could take your mind off it xx

Adult colouring books helped me while I was waiting for my results. You can focus on the drawings and avoid stressful thoughs. It reduced my anxiety.

I was a bit worried about how my age would affect the results and was pretty okay with the idea of having a "high risk" (1/150 or fewer) result - I think my age only risk is something like 1/70...

But it was in fact much higher so I that was a relief. Waiting is SOOOOOO hard though!

Finally got my results back. I have a 1 in 5258 chance of having a baby with DS and a 1 in 50,000 chance of having a baby with Edwards and Patau.
