I have a fetal heart echo tomorrow, and was wondering if anyone has had one,and what to expect? Not much info online and what i have read it says it can take between 30 minutes to 2 hours!

I had one about a year ago, although it seems like longer ago now and my memory of it is a bit patchy. Hopefully some of this will help though!

From what I remember before the actual scan I had someone take mine and my husband’s medical history and ask about the pregnancy so far. All that information got passed on to the consultant doing the scan before I went in so I was waiting around a lot but I think the scan itself couldn’t have been much longer than thirty minutes. It didn’t feel very long anyway. They warned me before they started that they might have to press down quite hard to be able to see what they needed to and said to let them know if I felt dizzy or unwell but I was fine.

They had a tick-list of the things that they needed to look at which they talked me through and put in my notes afterwards and then I got sent a letter summing everything up about a week later. Luckily everything was fine with my baby. I hope you have good news tomorrow too.
