NT 6.4

Hi all!! I had my scan last week and they saw a potential hygroma and NT fluid of 6.4. I went back 2 days later when they confirmed the hygroma and said the fluid was also down baby’s back. Has anyone had any success stories when the levels have been so high? I’m in for my amnio tomorrow!! My risk for downs came back at 1:10 and the combined result 1:54. I have days of feeling positive and then totally negative!! Part of me is even scared of my amnio coming back all clear incase I get my hopes up and then there being heartache later down the line. I’m all over the place really!! Any stories would be appreciated xx

Hi @katie987 so sorry you are going through this. I’m afraid I can’t offer any advice but just wanted you to know that you aren’t alone, I have also had a high NT and I am having my amnio tomorrow as well. I had the NIPT initially which came back clear but the NT is still potentially an issue so we have decided to have the amnio to try and attempt to get some peace of mind.

I can totally relate to you worrying about further down the line. Did they do a detailed scan for you? Hope everything looked ok on that for you?

I feel like there are so many hurdles to get over before I can even tell anyone I am pregnant - first amnio results (I will be 17 weeks by then and I am already showing as it’s my second baby) and then 20 week scan to check for any structural issues.

I will have my fingers crossed for us both and once again so sorry you are going through this as well.

Hi @MustStopSnacking28

Thanks for getting back to me! Urgh it’s just awful isn’t it! I’m not sure if they did a detailed scan, they mentioned the heart looked normal?!? What did your detailed scan consist of? I asked the doctor whether there was a possibility the fluid could disappear and he said yes but said it’s more the question of why it was there in the first place which has just made me think it’s all bad. I’m actually having a cvs tomorrow (sorry I called it an amnio) but I think they’re very similar!!

I really hope we both get to the end of this journey and have positive stories to tell!!!! I’m sorry you’re going through this too!! It’s such a headwreck!!

Good luck tomorrow!!! Xxx

No problem. It’s nice to speak to people in the same position in a way, even though I know none of us would choose to be chatting about this Sad

Maybe they will have a look tomorrow when they do the CVS for you? That’s good if the heart looked normal at least! They did a detailed scan in Fetal Medicine and just took more measurements and stuff I think. I have a report but I don’t really know what a lot of it means. The part that stands out is that everything is down as ‘normal’ except for NT which is down as abnormal. It almost feels worse having it written there to be honest!

Good luck with the CVS I think they’re similar procedures yes. Fingers crossed by 20 weeks we might be discharged back to normal maternity care! Xxx

I know this reply is late, but i was wondering how everything turned out? We are going through something similar at the moment x

Hello!! I’m sorry you’ve had bad news!! However be hopeful that everything will okay!! I’ve not had my baby yet however I had an all clear cvb and microarray!! I also had a detailed scan at 18 and 20 weeks which was all clear too!! They’re rescanning next week when I’ll be 28 weeks but hopefully all will be well!! It’s honestly the worst thing ever to go through and I don’t think you’ll fully relax till babe is here but take each day at a time and stick to what you know rather than what you can imagine!!! Good luck xxxxx

Hello!! I just wanted to send an update that my baby girl is now 6 months old and absolutely perfect. I used to spend so much time on this site searching for “success stories” to try and ease my mind so I hope this post can do the same for others, who are in a similar position. Lots of love x

@katie987 what a lovely update! Congratulations on your healthy little girl. I would also add that my baby is now 7 months old and also fine, a lot of worrying during pregnancy that now seems silly but at the time it seemed monumental and I couldn’t think of anything else. If any ladies have a similar experience (which I really hope you won’t!) please try not to worry and just focus on getting to each appointment. Hopefully you and your babies will also be fine!

NSx · 16/05/2022 13:08

So happy that both your babies are fine 💙
we can never have enough positive stories - especially when we are faced with hard situations, they always give a bit of hope.
so thank you for sharing x
