Breech baby

A few weeks ago my midwife told me my baby was already head-down :-)
However I went back today and they said they suspected baby had moved and was now bottom down. They’re sending me for a scan.
Arghh!
I know 34 weeks is a bit early for him to be head-down, but I didn’t know they could move back!
Now worried I’ve done something wrong like not walked around enough?
Is there anything I can do to encourage him back into head-down?
Should I be worried?!
Thanks!

They can flip back and forth until 37/38 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much. To help encourage them to move you can put a bag of frozen peas on the top of your stomach, theory being they don't like the cold on their head. Try downward dog yoga pose (tricky at this far pregnant if not been doing yoga throughout!) and laying on the floor with a pillow under your hips. Although I did all of these and he stayed breach, but he is a stubborn sod! More likely to be advised of a c section if he stays breach, as it is the safer option for baby. If he stays breach you'll also be sent for baby to have a hip scan as a higher chance of hip dysplasia with breach. But like I said at the start, still plenty of time for them to flip!

Wonder if you had the same MW as me? When I went for the scan the baby was clearly head down. I'd try not to worry.

As PPs say the baby can move back before the due date. In my case she didn't but the hospital and midwifery teams were brilliant and I was given the choice to do a vaginal birth or ELCS. No matter what happens I'm sure you will be fully supported and have a happy healthy baby. Smile

I'm 28 weeks and at every scan since 12 weeks my ds has been breech. He hasn't moved. My consultant told me that 1 in 4 baby's are breech but most move before 38 weeks. I think she was trying to reassure me but I'm not convinced Ds has any plans to move. He is very comfortable with his bum in my pelvis and head up under my ribs.

When I was pregnant with my DD she was constantly changing positions so this pregnancy is very different. I'm going to discuss my concerns with my midwife but I've also booked a private scan for 36 weeks to find out if he has moved or not. I hope your little one moves soon.

I'm being induced tomorrow at 38+2. Baby was breech right up until last week and has now moved head down and head is fully engaged.

Quail both of mine were transverse until quite late, DS then went head down, DD went breech then head down. I'm sure you're LO will find the right way round soon too

Oh @MaryShelley1818 how exciting! Let us know how you get on Thanks

Mine have both flipped until 38 weeks. Didn’t think 2nd DC ever would, he was firmly locked in breech with a big head. He moved. Might not though! You may be able to flip. But...They’ll do whatever they want, it’s preparation for having a toddler 🤣
