Feeling lost and helpless and hoping for some positivity/advice.

Within the last 10months I've had one late TFMR & one MMC. I really thought my prayers were answered when I was blessed with another pregnancy.

I am currently 11weeks + 4 and always intended to have CVS due to risks of alpha thalassemia (both partner and I are carriers of this genetic trait and there's a 1 in 4 chance of disease baby in every pregnancy). However, at my 11week scan they discovered a large cystic hygroma from head to mid-back measuring 4.4mm, and also a small omphalocele containing bowel. Fetal medicine couldn't perform a CVS that day due to my posterior placenta being inaccessible. I was invited to a small room to discuss their scan findings and they suspect it to be Trisomy 18 and not a good prognosis for my baby.

I will be returning next week for a reassessment and another attempt for CVS. I am scared and heartbroken and pray for a miracle.

I hope someone can give me some hope with similar or positive experiences. Please keep us in your prayers.

I am thinking of you.

We went through something similar 2 years ago. We did not have the outcome we wanted. I promise you that if the worst happens you can survive and one day smile again.

I found the ARC helpline amazing both while waiting for news, and afterwards.

Thank you for all your messages & kind words.

@tami2k I hope all goes well for you

2 more days till my appointment/CVS... spending my days on Google in search for hope which I know is not the best idea. Trying to stay optimistic. I pray my 2 angel babies will be watching over us now....( I can't bear the thought of another loss.)

When I went for my CVS there was no heartbeat, they said it was due to abnormalities. Currently in hospital now completed a medical termination. As difficult as it was I believe it was the best thing than for LO to suffer. Thanks all tc

So sorry @tami2k, glad you can take some comfort in knowing your little one did not have any suffering.
