After failed private Harmony ,not enough dna in 18 weeks,I have option visit consultant and have amino on Monday. Will he do scan before like proper one or becouse I said I want it he will just have a quick look??
I never saw him,I am having it because I am panicking abot low ff.My NHS 12 week scan was low risk,so they doing me a favour.I am hoping for some chat or some explanation about dna.

An important thing to consider is how any information from amniocentesis would affect your decision-making, and weigh that against the risk to the baby. If your screening came back low risk and you hadn't had the Harmony, would you still want the amnio? Low foetal fraction doesn't mean there's definitely a health problem with the pregnancy - there are a lot of reasons, including sampling errors, storing the sample for too long, maternal age and weight, etc...

It might help to speak with the consultant before making your decision about the amnio - he or she can hopefully help you come to an infomed decision that's right for you.

Thank you for your response. I never have visit with consultant,I dont know how visit looks just before amino,is there time to chat?I was hoping for chat scan and then decision and now I feel like I need to have it.If I would not have Harmony then I would not do it,but unfortunate I did and now ut is a mess.maybe it could hilight some other problems ,I have it now in my head.I need an answer what could be wrong, and that what I was hoping for a chat.If I will not be sure about it after chat I will not do it.such a hard decision.

Hi

I had this - 3 harmony tests fail at 12,14 and 16 weeks I think.
Have a google the Iona test works with much lower fetal factor, the nhs didn’t do my 12 week bloods since I had already had the harmony - had I known the failure rate I would have insisted. It was incredibly stressful. I have a high BMI, which again had I done my research or been better informed I would have potentially looked at other options as I think this has probably been the issue.

The Iona ended up working and came back 1 in 10,000 for everything tested and the report said by FF was over 8% so no idea why the 3rd harmony failed (they were done a day apart).

I would try for the Iona if you can before evasive tests, did you get the standard 12 week combined test?

Sorry just read the thread properly / if 12 week was low risk I absolutely wouldn’t do the amnio. As said above see if you can get an Iona, I did my harmony with ultrasound direct they refunded £330 of it.

Hi.harmony failed at 18 week,it was only 3.2% so even lower then week before. One of doctors I met by emails said that whit so low numbers it dont matter that much.I know Nhs wanna do amino becouse I am moaning but I wanna do it for proper reasons like if there is smth wrong.I hope there will advise me.did you have low risk on a blood test?is your scan ok?

You’d need to have a check but I believe Iona works on 2% FF - definitely quite low. As a poster above says there is lots of reasons for lower FF.

I didn’t get a 12 week combined they didn’t do bloods. I’m 23 weeks and so far I have a low risk Iona and no issues spotted on my 20 week anomaly scan.

I did do a quad blood test just before the Iona (it’s what pushed me to get it) and that was a 1 in 110 risk I believe, I was happy to proceed with the low risk Iona result after that.
