Has anybody had any similar odds?

Wasn't expecting anything like this, midwife called me yesterday and said that 1 in 11 for trisomy 13/18. Downs was low, and also low Papp-a

Can't stop crying and worrying. My CVS is booked for Monday. How long do you typically wait for results?

I am going through this alone and
This is killing me 😢

Hi all, I went for an NIPT blood test yesterday following a high risk result for Down’s syndrome. I am trying to keep busy but can’t stop googling. I have to wait 10 days for results and it seems like forever. I’m finding it so hard to remain positive.

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 12/11/2020 16:46

Ps your good news stories are helping x

Booni · 12/11/2020 18:54

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky hello, I am sorry you are going through thisFlowers. I was waiting for my results for more than 3 weeks. I did harmony test but they couldn’t find enough DNA twice. I decided to go for Amnio and received my results within 48 hours. The waiting was awful and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I have even referred myself to Talking Space and had few sessions with them. The Counsellor advised to make a job list and occupy myself every single day. So I did and watched lots of movies, started reading a new book, was cleaning the house, did a bit gardening. I know it’s stuff we do every day but the list really helped me to occupy myself. I was 1/14 for Downs and 1/15 for Edwards/ Patau ... after few days of constant googling I have decided to stop as it was making me very anxious. Good luck. I will be keeping my fingers crossed x

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 12/11/2020 19:01

Thank you @Booni. I have been really trying to keep busy. Luckily my work helps. It feels nice now I’ve found this group so I’ll try to stop googling now! X

Londoncatshed · 12/11/2020 19:10

Wonderful news. Enjoy your baby girl when she arrives x

weivfgotthis · 12/11/2020 20:11

@Booni congrats that's great news Smile and wonderful you're having a girl!

weivfgotthis · 12/11/2020 20:12

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky the waiting is just awful ☹️

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 12/11/2020 20:15

Least I know I’m not alone. :) x

Booni · 12/11/2020 20:26

@weivfgotthis thank you SmileFlowers have you received your results yet? Xx

weivfgotthis · 12/11/2020 22:14

@Booni
I have received the NIPT which was low probability at 1:10000 for all 3 trisomies
So that was good news
I couldn't have the cvs due to placenta position so I'm waiting for the amnio appt next week as you have to be15 weeks to have this done.
So yep I'm in the waiting and wondering boat too Confused

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 13/11/2020 06:59

Great news. What were your odds @weivfgotthis?

weivfgotthis · 13/11/2020 09:55

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky
The combined test gave me a

1: 29 chance of Edwards /pataus
1:33 chance of Down's syndrome

This was also based on an NT measurement of 4mm
Plus my age no doubt as I am 38.

I have been here before though 5 years ago with my first baby and much worse odds and she is absolutely fine so I'm trying to stay positive

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 13/11/2020 10:53

I have a 1:29 chance of Downs and I’m older too, I’m 39.
Also trying to stay positive x

theonewithnousername · 13/11/2020 21:11

@Booni amazing news! So relieved for you 💕 when are you due?

If it reassures anyone reading I spoke to my midwife about this last week and she said that even with my odds she hadn't actually ever had a patient return a positive result. It doesn't help with the worrying but I have my fingers crossed for everyone still going through the agonising wait.

I've started to feel kicks 😁😁

@theonewithnousername hello, thank you so much💕 I am due 4th May, what about you? 💕 x

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 13/11/2020 22:06

Thank you @theonewithnousername that’s reassuring, although I daren’t get my hopes up.
The midwife that did my test looked at my figures for hcg and PAPPA and said she has seen both positive and negative results from such figures x

theonewithnousername · 14/11/2020 23:52

@Booni
I'm due 30th April 😁 they said due to my low Papp-a results they wouldn't let me go overdue. Finally starting to relax now then I know I'll work myself up again for the 20 week scan. I've still got a huge bruise too xx

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky I have low hcg and low Papp-a too and the odds you've been given are way better than mine were! Try not to worry, easier said that done I know but try and distract yourself and eat well x

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky
Are you having a cvs or amnio test? Sorry if you've already said
I know you're waiting on harmony test results - ours took 6 days, we had the test on a Monday and got the phone call on the Sunday so fingers crossed you don't have too much longer to wait

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 17/11/2020 21:13

@weivfgotthis I have just had the harmony and awaiting the results of that. It will be a week tomorrow

Iknowblackcatsarelucky · 19/11/2020 15:26

Hi, today I feel like I’ve won the lottery, after the test we have been told our baby has a 1/10000 chance of having a problem. We can’t believe how lucky we are and are not quite sure why we deserve such good fortune compared to others. Now hopefully for a night with some sleep... thank you for all your support :)

weivfgotthis · 19/11/2020 16:19

@Iknowblackcatsarelucky
Congratulations that's great news such a relief Smile
