NIPT tomorrow & very nervous!

Hi all, this is my first post here as I am currently 10+2 with my first pregnancy!

Husband & I have booked a Harmony NIPT test tomorrow afternoon and I’m so nervous about it! I haven’t been able to concentrate on work all day, and tomorrow morning probably won’t be much better...

We had an internal scan at 7+2 as I had some spotting/ light bleeding, which showed baby’s heartbeat (phew!) and a subchorionic haematoma which caused the bleeding. The bleeding thankfully stopped at about 8 weeks, but I’m still just so anxious that something will have gone wrong in the meantime.

We haven’t told anyone that we’re going for NIPT so I can’t vent to family or close friends (a few know we’re pregnant) so I’m ranting here instead. Any words of encouragement or mamas in similar boats welcome!

Hey @dellarossa - I’ve not been in your exact position but we had the NIPT done and it’s definitely a good idea as whilst it’s only a screening test, I understand that it’s pretty accurate for T13, T18 and T21. The test itself is very straightforward- they’ll scan you first and then do a standard blood test. Our results came back the following week but think timings vary depending on where you get it done and the demands on their lab.
I wasn’t expecting to see much more on the scan than at 8 weeks (when I had had my last scan) but quite a bit had changed, which was nice to see. I’m sure it’ll be the same for you as it sounds like everything has been going smoothly for the last few weeks.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thanks @Tig2010 Smile we’re just back now - all went well with the scan! They said baby is measuring well for 10+3 and he/she was very wriggly - amazing to see how much it was moving! We heard the heartbeat too for the first time.

Now just to wait for our results and hope all is OK there... the sonographer said to allow 7 working days so hopefully next week but it might be the start of the following week. Fingers crossed!

Just to update that we’ve had our results back & are low probability - less than 1 in 10,000 - for all three trisomies. Absolutely thrilled! Now just waiting for everything to be OK at the 12 week scan which we have on Tuesday and we can start telling people our news!
