Hi all,

How long did it take your HCG levels to be back to normal? I had a TFMR on the 23rd February. My next period came on the 12 April and was normal. I took a pregnancy test on Saturday (using cheapies) and their was a very faint pink line. A squinter. Today I decided to take a FRER and the line is extremely faint (almost not there. I don’t even think it’s a line could be an Evaporated line? I know I am coming on as I’ve been feeling cramps but as I suffer from PCOS my cycles switch from 30-40 days randomly. I’m convinced it’s HCG from my previous pregnancy but surely it doesn’t stay in your system for this long?

I added a pic if anyone wanted to see.

Hey @chicaxs

I've had mine on the 28th Feb and my levels have only just gone down after removal of pregnancy tissue so can't really comment on that. Your body will only ovulate when the HCG level is 0. So this actually looks like a new pregnancy 🤞🏼

ChicaXS · 07/05/2020 20:37

Thanks @NoCallerID

I highly doubt I am pregnant since we hardly DTD this month. Oddly the lines were getting lighter and I’ve been researching that some women have had HCG post ovulation. I did suffer from very high levels too. So strange.

Hm that's what I was told by the midwives when I was in. But haven't done any research on it myself. Maybe try another FRER in a couple of days to see how it changes on them? To be honest, when I did my las FRER it looked like that (a week after the tissue removal) and I haven't done one since as I really don't want to see any more lines on FRERs until I'm actually TTC...

Hello,

I had a tfmr on 18th March and have had one normal period since then (I'm cd 11 on my second cycle). I took a pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago just before my first period started and it was totally negative. I was just curious as I read about hcg remaining in the system etc. I was surprised it was negative 6 weeks after the termination.

TenThousandSpoons0 · 08/05/2020 08:37

Depends how many weeks you were with your TFMR - generally hcg will go down quicker if you were earlier in pregnancy. Sometimes it can stick around a long time though! As others have said perhaps do another FRER in a couple of days, if still seeing a line catch up with your gp and they can organise some HCG levels to see whether they’re rising or falling. Good luck, and sorry for your loss.

ChicaXS · 08/05/2020 11:44

I was 14+3 when I had my TFMR so just into my 2nd trimester. I had extreme morning sickness and had very high HCG levels. Took another (IC) and was a BFN this morning using FMU. Have another FRER but this time I’m testing next week when my cycle will be approaching 35 days. So far I’m convinced it’s left Over HCG, it’s crazy as it seems it takes a couple of cycles to regulate - I wonder if it’s because I have PCOS?

Lines are extremely faint so could just be evap lines and playing with my head!

How are you doing @chicaxs?

ChicaXS · 11/05/2020 13:04

Hi @NoCallerID, thanks for checking in on me. I am doing ok, just really frustrated as my period has yet to arrive! I took a FRER and no positive results now and the faint lines have gone completely. I’m still convinced it was left over HCG which is very odd but have read about multiple women happen to them. Now I now it’s back to zero based on no more faint lines I will try again next month. I’m all kitted you and will try the SMEP strategy, bought preseed and will test ovulation everyday. I believe I ovulated last week since Aubt Florida has not showed and missed my window! Not a bad thing considering I did want a couple of months to recover anyway. How are you? X

Kitted out and Aunt flo * lol 😂

Ah that's at least a step in the right direction!

Nothing happening here, I might do a FRER to see if there's any HCG left at all but the last one was so faint it was very difficult to see and that's a couple of weeks back now. I've been doing OPKs and I thought I was on the right track but they've gone down again, no EWCM and no other signs of ovulation... I'm getting frustrated with my body....

ChicaXS · 11/05/2020 13:33

@NoCallerID are your cycles usually regular? Don’t get frustrated, we will get our wishes soon we just need to persevere. Are you taking folic acid? I started to take Coq-10 because that helps with egg quality apparently.

I should practise what I preach, I am all over the place too with PCOS, never know when my periods arrive or when I ovulate! X

@ChicaXS I have quite long and irregular cycles (around 31-40 days). I take 5mg folic acid, prenatal vitamins and have also started on Agnus castus again as it worked for me previously. Also started temping again but my thermometer broke and the new one hasn't been delivered yet. I just need to try and keep myself busy and not obsess over it which is so much easier said than done isn't it x

ChicaXS · 11/05/2020 18:30

@NoCallerID I will try Angus castus - just heard lots of good things but never took it. Temping never worked for me and I have zero tolerance for routine. The closest I can do is pee in a pot for routine lol. Welcome to the long cycle club - it’s pretty crap! I hope our bodies return to normal soon! X

@ChicaXS I first took AC even I came off the pill and my cycles were like 84 days after my sister (midwife) recommended it. Since then I've told everyone who would listen (or not) about it and one of my friends ended up having to cancel her IVF because she fell pregnant. She said her friend also conceived after starting AC. I've been taking it for 3 weeks now and guess what.... I've had a positive OPK today!! Not that we're trying yet, but I'm pleased it's going the right way FINALLY! Just annoyed my thermometer hasn't been delivered yet, I really would've loved to see the temp spike...x

ChicaXS · 13/05/2020 12:38

@NoCallerID oooh I’m excited to try AC! I was using inofolic for my PCO but I’ll as this and see how this goes! I’m on day 33 of my cycle and Aunt Flo still hasn’t arrived! The joys of PCOS!

I’m so happy you got a positive OPK! Don’t worry about the temping, surely doing the deed for the next 5 days will secure you? X

NoCallerID · 14/05/2020 09:34

@ChicaXS yup, my sister has PCOS that's why she started taking it in the first place.
I hope you get your period soon so you can start over again.

The other thing I thought - If there was any pregnancy tissue left in your body that would stop your HCG dropping too. Maybe that bleed was something along that? Did you have a medical or surgical?

I had times where I'd almost stop bleeding and then had clots again and it ended up being tissue and I needed the MVA, however they had given me the option to just wait a few weeks to see if it comes out by itself. As there was a worry it could be self-reproducing tissue we decided to get it out...

Well, we're not really trying yet. More along the lines if it happens it happens. I didn't tell OH about the positive OPK but we ddt last night anyway. I ovulate quite quickly and I'm certain I felt it this morning so we'll see. I'm just annoyed now that I know I ovulate as I'll be obsessing over it until AF arrives or I have a positive test. I wouldn't mind if it didn't work as I'm due for a smear in June and would rather not miss that...

ChicaXS · 15/05/2020 16:48

@NoCallerID I was always curious - wha do you feel when you ovulate?? I think it’s almost like an extremely sharp twitch that happens a couple of times? Is that correct? Rather then overall cramps!

How old are you? If your still young, time is on your side! So relax when TTC? But it’s hard to not be obsessive! I am 37 with PCOS and a blocked tube so basically screwed , however I got pregnant naturally once so can happen again!

I defo have no more tissue. I had to go in twice for a D&C since they missed tissue from the first time. Definitely clear since I had multiple scans but yes - that was not a nice experience! I had a period on the 12 APr so presumed all was normal with HCG but I was wrong!

Aubt flo arrived today. Didn’t think I’d be so happy! Grin

@chicaxs yes, that's what I felt on my left side so I'm assuming that's what it was.

I'm 34 later this year, we already have a little boy who will be 2 in July and we don't want too big of a gap. I wish I could relax, but unfortunately I'm like my dad and if I want something I want it now.

Oh that sounds awful, but glad you got checked and it got sorted out.
Ha, I've been saying how much I'd want my period back too. And how much I want a negative pregnancy test.... Now that's changed again 🙈
