Normal Papp a and NT, high hcg

I had bloods taken today for NIPT after being told I’m 1:117 risk for downs. The midwife said my Papp a and NT were both spot on but my hcg was over 4. She said at my age (35) one high result can lead to a high risk profile.

With both this pregnancy and my son, I had a positive preg test super early (10 days before my period was due). Could I just produce a lot of hcg?!

@legfaced
I have read this and this was exactly the same as me when I was pregnant with my daughter.
Very high hCG. It threw a 1 in 50 chance of downs.
I was offered an amnio the following week and everything came back clear. The midwives at the hospital said that my high hCG score had thrown the odds.
I know it's a worry time but try and relax. My little girl is now 15 months.

I had 1:47 risk at 34 years old.
My hcg was 5 and my pappA a little low at 0.6.
I had NIPT which came back low risk

Thanks for sharing @Pomeranian and @Paranoidkaty

I hope the scans continue to give you reassurance. I was told if the bloods came back ok, that there’d be no further investigation for high hcg. I know low pappA has been linked to growth so maybe that’s why you’re getting extra scans?

Still waiting for my results - won’t be back until next week Sad
