GTT cancelled

Has anyone else had their glucose tolerance test cancelled due to covid 19? I'm 21 weeks and it was supposed to be done at 28 weeks but they text today and cancelled it. Panicking in case I do have GDD as I haven't seen a midwife for ages either and the last few times they've checked my urine it's had glucose and protein in it :/

Mine was! I got a call from midwife saying they've found a way to do it so I don't have to go to a hospital and do that long wait in between blood tests anymore though so I've been booked in at 32 weeks

Fern08 · 16/04/2020 07:56

Oh maybe they'll do it like that for me too then. I might give the midwife a call nearer the time and just say I'm concerned about it. Things might be looking completely different in 7 weeks time so I won't bother asking her yet x

Mines booked in for three weeks time, booked this week. Probably depends which trust you're in x

I’ve think they’re trying to rearrange them to avoid having pregnancy ladies coming to the hospital during the pandemic. I’ve heard they’re looking at converting some football stadiums into temporary antenatal centres so it may just be being rescheduled at a different place.

Fern08 · 17/04/2020 07:18

I'm not sure, they didn't say anything about rescheduling, just that it was cancelled. I haven't had vaccinations yet either so I'll ask about those as well when I call

Have you heard anything about a reschedule? Mine went ahead and came back clear thankfully.

Fern08 · 14/05/2020 14:02

@squirrelnutkins1 they said they're doing a single blood test with my 28 week bloods, not as accurate but better than nothing x

So strange how different trusts are doing different things. Hope it comes back clear for you x

I went into hospital yesterday at almost 30 weeks to have a single set of bloods for Glucose taken plus other bloods. Didn't have to wait around like previous pregnancies.

squirrelnutkins1 · 15/05/2020 13:23

I did the two hour wait in a well spaced out waiting room and all the midwifes had PPE on. I actually felt ok when I came out, thought I'd be feeling stressed.

@Fern08 my 28 weeks bloods are this Friday and they’ve said the same about a single blood test to replace my GTT. Do you know if we have to fast for this as they haven’t said?

Fern08 · 27/05/2020 06:58

I've been told not to fast :)

OP posts:
squirrelnutkins1 · 28/05/2020 18:23

I had to fast from 10pm the night before....

Fern08 · 29/05/2020 14:18

@squirrelnutkins1 I think you had a different glucose test as the single test you don't have to fast and you don't have the two hour wait
