Hi,
Probably an awful question but had my 12 week scan today (paid for this privately) and going for first ‘official’ dating scan in just under 2 weeks.
Just wondering if anyone thinks baby looks ok from a Down’s syndrome point of view and if anyone can see a nub?

Thank you - just curious and excited, dreading receiving some news that’s something is wrong.

I’d guess a girl and have no idea re DS. Are you having the combined or Harmony test, or are your foregoing tests altogether and just relying on what you can see via the scan?

If your private scan was through a reputable company, they are obliged to let you know if they see anything of concern with your baby. An exceptional high NT would stand out and should have been mentioned. However, not all babies with DS have a high NT and not all NT mean a chromosome concern.

Oh I didn’t know that - thank you.
Having all tests, not heard of the harmony one? But midwife took like 5 tubes of blood from me at 9 weeks.

I asked if everything was ok from DS point of view and she said ‘I’m not allowed to measure etc’ but it looks normal to me. But on the flip side, I doubt she would say it doesn’t look normal? She was too busy doing measurements, checking it had all limbs etc.

Can I ask why you think girl? I’m desperate to just ‘see it’ but I can’t.

Yes, she would say not normal. I’ve had a private scan and then been referred straight to hospital as a result of it.

As you’ve already had blood taken, you should get the results of the combined test on the day of your scan. The harmony test is usually a private one or else on the NHS if you are high risk after the combined test. The harmony is much more accurate than the combined test although not as accurate as an amino.

It’s a guess. Grin Just looks like a girl to me (I’ve had three girls).
