Waiting for CVS results

Mimiblue87 · 06/02/2020 16:33

I'm 32 and pregnant with our first after a long journey involving fertility treatment.
All seemed good at the 8 week scan then had the 12 week scan where the NT measured at over 9mm and was classed as high risk.
Saw the consultant yesterday who said there is definitely something wrong with baby, its just a case of identifying what.
Devastated :(
Had the CVS yesterday and now feel in some sort of bad dream waiting for the phone call.

Hugs from me. I have had good and bad news following CVs. All I can say is that I received a phone call within a couple of days. Hope you don't have to wait too long

Ruthsoph · 07/02/2020 08:44

@Mimiblue87 I feel for you as the wait is what’s worse - my NT was 4.8 so I have a Cvs which the first part came back ok but the second set of results had detected Mosaic Down Syndrome so we opted for an amino which would tell us 100% - unfortunately our news was sad and we opted for a medical termination in Nov - our daughter Violet was 18weeks - but it is the wait as you are pretty much in limbo xx wishing you success xx

notapizzaeater · 07/02/2020 08:55

The wait is horrendous - I wish you could just sleep through this time. X

Alima82 · 07/02/2020 11:05

15weeks4days. here waiting on second result for cvs. I was told my baby has severe micrognathia. I’m already feeling like I’ve lost massive part of me and don’t feel as I can cope. I really don’t know how to deal with the uncertainty. I wish I could sleep until my due date. So far all I have heard is people have lost their baby. Am sorry. It feels as am told to terminate as the future isn’t looking good. I could lose baby before due date or have stillborn. Or baby will die soon after birth due to breathing feeding issues. Am I been selfish I just want my baby in my Arms❣️I just have so much love to share Anybody have and positive news for me to cling to please.

Mimiblue87 · 07/02/2020 17:21

Thanks for the wishes- no news after sitting by the phone all of today. Will have to wait until Monday for the initial results now :( hoping to stay busy.

@Ruthsoph I'm so sorry for your loss, that's so hard.
@Alima82 I don't think it is selfish at all to want to hold your baby in your arms. Sending you lots of hugs, I know the waiting and uncertainty is horrendous.

I really, really feel for you, I had amnio back in November and the 3 days wait for the first lot of results was awful. And of course I got the phone call mid 'take-my-mind-off-things' cinema trip. Cue me dropping to my knees in the foyer, much to the usher's confusion.

Everything crossed for you 🍀🍀🍀

Alima82 · 09/02/2020 16:29

Thank you, waiting in vain crying for mercy😢

Treaclepie19 · 09/02/2020 21:15

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
We had an amnio in 2018 and had a TFMR as our baby was very unwell.
Message me if you have any questions x

SarahD19 · 09/02/2020 23:22

Hi @Mimiblue87. I had a CVS in October due to high risk for Edwards. It came back positive but as scan looked normal, we persisted asking for an amniocentesis. The initial amniocentesis was normal. The long term culture showed a very low level of mosaicism.

I’m 29 weeks now and baby is thriving. The Fetal Medicine Consultant has concluded she thinks baby will actually be born healthy after all.

Sorry I know this wait is absolute torture - and it can feel so isolating as people think diagnostics are straightforward and they are not at all. Plus when it is your baby, reason doesn’t matter. You just want to be told everything will be ok.

Sending lots of love and positive thoughts your way xx

ginandgingers92 · 10/02/2020 11:01

Thinking of you today, OP. Hopefully you're not waiting too much longer. 🍀

Mimiblue87 · 10/02/2020 17:30

Thanks all- we had the first results today which came back as normal! So that's the first hurdle passed. We are now waiting for the full results which they said could take 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed!
@SarahD19 that's great news about your baby, must be a relief! I hope you can now enjoy the rest of your pregnancy after all that stress

That's great news

SarahD19 · 10/02/2020 17:51

@Mimiblue87 that’s fantastic news! I hope the rest of the test results go well too 🤞 xx

ginandgingers92 · 10/02/2020 18:44

@Mimiblue87 amazing news! Very pleased for you :)

Binterested · 10/02/2020 18:48

Oh my goodness what great news. I’ve been where you were and had both good and bad outcomes so I know exactly what you’ve been going through. Very pleased for you.

Mimiblue87 · 14/02/2020 17:51

Thanks everyone! It has been good to have this outlet to try to release some of the stress..
Had the full CVS results through early! All fine too. Feeling more positive but still have a long way to go.. read somewhere that our chances of a healthy baby are under 15% still.. now have to wait 2 weeks until next scan.
Also found out we are having a boy! It's all girls in my family (I'm one of 3 girls, mum one of 4 girls, sister has 3 girls etc) so he'll be in the minority lol

Did they give a reason why thr nuchal gold was 9 mm .. did you have a full array? Are they any abnormalities on the scan or bloods or just the nuchal fold ?

Mimiblue87 · 14/02/2020 19:14

@oohnicevase not yet.. they think it's a structural or heart defect but we won't know more/how serious until baby is bigger and they can do next scans to check for abnormalities. Think the heart one has to be done at 18 weeks.
We had the full array carried out which was clear and no issues with the bloods- the concern is around the level of fluid. Praying it will decrease before we go back.
Still a long way to go...

Dear @Mimiblue87, I was wondering how it all went for you? Either way I hope you are in a happy place...

Mimiblue87 · 11/11/2020 12:19

The heart scan turned out fine and after a further test they couldn't pick up any major structural issues during pregnancy so we got discharged by fetal medicine. Don't really know why he had such a high level of fluid but he is now no more at risk of health issues than any other baby. Our little miracle was born on 17th August and is a happy little boy :) for all those who have similar 12 wk scan results, there is hope!
