Perspective please

Hello,

I'm new here, I created the account specifically for this, apologies if I'm not up with the terminology.

I'm 32 and pregnant with my second child, 12+6 and have been identified as high risk for Down Syndrome (1:50)

My midwife didn't really explain much, just that there is no point in worrying until the next blood test is back ( safe test same as harmony etc). I just wondered if anyone had any experience of these similar results?

NT 2.2
PAPP-A 0.2 (apparently this is unusual)
hCG 42.3

I know no one has a crystal ball, but I just have a really bad feeling and would appreciate some perspective.

I'm not sure it's the the MOM or the first reading that counts....

@calpolandcupcakes it is always so worrying when you get “the call” but the vast majority of people will then get a low chance from the SAFE test.
It is the low PAPP-A which has led to the “high chance” combined test It is MoM value that is used, this compares your result to the average of women matched with you for age, ethnicity etc. It may be your normal for you. If SAFE test gives low chance results it would be suggested to have extra growth monitoring later in pregnancy. The NT and hCG are very average/normal results. Do you happen to have the result from your previous pregnancy to know what your PAPP-A was then?
The SAFE test (or any version of NIPT) looks at fragments of baby’s DNA and so averages are irrelevant.

I'm not sure what my results were for my son, but he was 11.2lbs so that's why I was a bit freaked out when the midwife said they double checked the results as "You just don't make babies that way" - I'm very tall so it wasn't diabetes etc.
