I’m expecting my first baby, due on 9th December. I am 39 YO Pregnancy has been going really well, I had some nausea in first trimester but it now subsided. DH and I were besotted with pregnancy news. I attended my 12 weeks scan, all in norm. Combined test for Down, trisomy 18, 13 screening came out negative and low risk. All tests were done on NHS.
Recently 24/07/19 We attended anomaly scan and all measurements came out normal and not abnormalities identified however Sonographer referred us for 28 weeks scan and made referral to FMU for review of limbs. Baby’s left femur came out below average 28.1 mm right femur 28.5mm @ 5 centile. I tried to ask sonographer if there is anything I should do before my next appointment as I was really worried. She wasn’t very helpful and got a bit crossed me asking her questions. Having said that sonographer had said that the baby might have taken short frame after me. I later on read that they are not allowed to provide any advise.I am now worried sick, it is my first pregnancy and don’t have many fiends that experienced similar problems. It is worth mentioning that I am quiet petite frame 5ft.1 inches. All my side of family mum, sister, aunties are petite except my brother who is much taller (after our grandad). DH is 5ft 10 and his family are slightly taller then mines but still on smaller scale. I read on google that short limbs could be a marker for Down syndrome or dwarfism. Also that Combine tests are not accurate. I read that Harmony test are more accurate and now contemplating on doing it.
I read some threads here but I wanted o know if it is worth doing Harmony test. I haven’t received any phone call or letter as yet from hospital. I also read here on forum that many babies are measured short but came out to be healthy. I am praying all will be fine. Anyone that had done Harmony test? Any one that had similar experience?

Hi, I’ve not had this experience but the NHS combined test and the NIPT/Harmony test are not diagnostic tests. They will only give you a “risk” ratio (you can’t have a negative result). The only tests that can tell you for certain are amino and cvs.

I experienced something similar. No one raised any concerns until a 34 week growth scan when my baby's femurs weren't even charting, apparently being so disproportionately small. I looked back on my 20 week scan and 28 week private scan measurements, and noticed that they'd always measured small in comparison to head and abdomen. The sonographer said he may just be short like me (5ft2") but it was too late by then, panic was setting in and I obsessed about it for the rest of my pregnancy. I was anxious about dwarfism, downs, and other chromosomal abnormalities. In the end, my boy turned out absolutely perfect, and now at 3 months he's only on the 2nd centile for height but nothing of concern. Try not to worry OP, scan measurements are rarely 100% accurate and more often than not, all is well. I ruined the rest of my pregnancy and wish I'd worried less, and embraced more. That said, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Good luck with everything x
