Hi guys,
FTM here.. I had my NT scan done a few days back with the nasal bone being visible and the NT measuring at 1.2mm.. I got my blood report back today and while the PAPp is within normal limits the HCG is pretty high.. The report says that considering only the HCG marker my chances of DS are 1:73.. Combine with my NT report, my chances fall to 1:481.. The overall screen test is -ve.. Considering the high HCG, I am super worried.. I wont be able to consult my OB till Monday.. Im 34..
Has anyone had results like mine? Please help..

Hi Loompa,

I went through something similar. I went for my twelve week scan which all looked good with NT 1.2. The following week I got a phone call from the midwife saying my results had come back high risk downs at 1:88 due to the blood results. Pappa was pretty normal at 0.94 but my Hcg was really high at 7.94. We went for the harmony test privately as we were concerned about the risk with amino and after a week waiting it came back as low risk.

They said they don’t use they hcg to screen for anything else and even said if they did the combined test on a different day the blood results could be completely different which has made me feel confused about the validity of the combined test. If I was pregnant again I would go straight for the harmony test as it’s meant to be more accurate anyway.

I know it is easier said than done but try not to worry as those odds are still really low and maybe look into harmony/NIPT testing or amino as these are likely to be the further tests they offer. X
