High HCG Making High Risk of Downs

Hello,

I’m driving myself mad so I just wanted to see if anyone had been through anything similar. I went for my twelve week scan which all looked good with NT 1.2. The following week I got a phone call from the midwife saying my results had come back high risk downs at 1:88 due to the blood results. Pappa was pretty normal at 0.94 but my Hcg was really high at 7.94. We have gone for the harmony test and are waiting for the results but I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar? They said if they did the combined test on a different day the blood results could be completely different which has made me feel confused about the validity of the test. I know the risk is 1.1 percent but I can’t stop over thinking it and concerned because the HCG is so high. I didn’t know if anything else could cause this.

Given your Papp-a and NT results, I really would try not to worry. It’s just one of the 3 indicators that’s off, your baby will be fine I think!

Personally I think NT results are usually the key indicator- the results aren't that high either- that's a 9 in 10 chance you won't have a baby with downs. It's an anxious wait, but you'll most likely be fine. x

Thank you both so much for responding. I think it is the waiting that I am really struggling with. don’t know now anyone who has been through this so it has been helpful to read the boards on here and feel less alone about it.

Hey @Sammye25 just wondering if you got your results yet? I am also 1.88 risk for downs. Thanks

@Sammye25 Such a worrying time. I’m a midwife specialising in these issues, so happy to answer any questions by PM if that would help
