How long did you wait for amnio results?

I’ll be having an amniocentesis within the next 2 weeks. I’ve read online the official estimates, but am curious about your experiences. And were you tested just for Down’s/Edward’s/Patau’s or for everything? Thanks.

3 days for the main 3 trisomies and two weeks for the full karotype. We had the full testing after a heart defect and iugr were seen at 20 weeks. We already had a clear harmony test (which we had done off our own bat at 12weeks) so we're fairly confident it wasn't one of the main 3. During the amnio a slight echogenic bowel was spotted as well. I had to chase results for both sets which was frustrating (esp as we were very close to 24 weeks by the time we had the amnio). They were all clear

Thanks so much for your reply. That sounds quite quick then, although I suppose it didn’t feel that way at the time! I’ve got a bit of a road ahead of me with tests so I’m having to learn to be patient. I’m really glad for you that your results were clear.

I got the fast results for the main trisomies back in 3 or 4 days.
The full results took 4 weeks, it was quite a hard wait! I was initially told the lab were running behind, then told my cells were slow growing, not sure what the truth was.

Thank you Newyears. I’ve got my amnio on Wednesday so looks like I’ll be waiting until the next week for the first lot of results. That must have been really hard for you to be waiting 4 weeks. Thanks for the good luck wishes- I need all the good luck I can get. The amnio is just one part of the tests.

I had my amino on the Thursday, cancelled my holiday for the following week (understandably) and got results the following Tuesday, so 3 working days. Rescheduled holiday for the following week and got the full results while on the beach so must have been 2 weeks or less (it’s hard to remember exactly as was 4.5 years ago). Hope all goes well for you x
