Do I still need to go to 12 weeks scan after NIPT

I was hoping to get a few answers here as I am unsure whether I should do or postpone my 12 weeks scan tomorrow.
I have so far done 3 scans (7 - viability; 10 - reassurance, 11 - panorama).
This is my first pregnancy and I am not sure whether it is safe to do so many scans (I have read mixed experiences)

The panorama test was done at 11+4 and the sonographer checked for the heart, 2 arms, 2 legs, blood flow in umbilical cord, brain and stomach. However she says i should still go to the 12 weeks scan as my pregnancy being more advanced they would be able to pick up more things.
Can anyone help please?

Yes go for it. Why wouldn't you?!

I am worried that too many scans might hurt the baby.
I had a few miscarriages in the past and I have been a bit worried.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

I completely understand how worrying this must be after many miscarriages.

There is no evidence that ultrasounds increase the risk of miscarriage at all (and there has been lots of research into the safety of ultrasounds in pregnancy).

Why don't you speak to your midwife about this, it's a completely reasonable question and she'll be able to answer for your specific circumstances in a way that we can't.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

If they have not checked the nuchal thickness at the last scan, then it is definitely worth going. NIPT only test for 3 major trisomies, but 12 weeks scan can pick up other things as well. There is no evidence that ultrasounds harms the baby (and due to high risk of preterm birth, I had a scan every two weeks or more with both of my children). I hope you feel more reassured as you get along further with your pregnancy. Hugs x

Scans are not in any way harmful to your baby.

Thank you very much for all your answers. I'll be going to the 12 weeks scans but will ask for a quick one Blush

I had 13 scans with my twins (most routine) and they were perfect x

Who did your NIPT test? Was it at a hospital or at a private Clinic?

You need an official dating scan, if you have had NIPT they will not do the NT measurement and offer your NHS screening due to the fact you could end up with conflicting results. But you do need the baby measured to give you a official due date and for them to book your 20
Week anatomy scan.
When they ask if you want to have thebscreening you can say you have had the NIPT test.

Hi shinybagder, I had my NIPT with birth company in Harley street. We went for the panorama test,
We went to our 12 weeks scan and did the combined test. They gave us the results on the same day and the risks came out low. We are still waiting for our NIPT results.
But you are right, they asked me to book for the 20 week scan then.
