Skull Measurements at Dating Scan

Melbabes6 · 20/10/2018 11:08

Had my dating scan yesterday. I knew my dates were only 10+6 as I ovulated late but the hospital insisted on using LMP. Anyway, the sonographer said she was only 90% sure she could see the skull bones and therefore couldn't take the measurements. She tried to reassure me by saying it's cos I was early and to go back in 2 weeks for another scan. My anxiety is now through the roof and I'm paranoid something is wrong. Has anyone else ever experienced this!?!

No experience I'm afraid, but you should maybe get the picture taken down! You've left a lot of identifying information there for anyone to read. Hope the scan in 2 weeks time goes ok

Is there a particular reason you have such distrust in medical professionals who do this every day for a living? They're not allowed to lie to you and you've already said you know it was too early so why do you now doubt her when she says it's too early?

@Cariadxx this is an anxious mother here, show a bit of charm and decorum fgs!

Op, I think if the sonographer was concerned she would have let you know, I remember worrying about all sorts.

Try not to worry.

As far an anxiety goes I know exactly what it's like thanks, I've seen pretty much everything that can go wrong with babies. But at the ends of the day when you c cone on a public forum saying I know the scan was too early, and the sonographer said it was too early.... but I've decided to stress myself out anyway it is really insulting to the health care professional

@Cariadxx The sonographer said she's only 90% sure she can see skull bones therefore there is a 10% chance there is something wrong. How is that doubting her?
Thank you @Fatas for your sensitivity.

90% sure she can see them means 10% chance she couldn't. How does that equate to 10% chance there's something wrong if you're actually too early too have the scan in the first place?

Hi OP, you may not have realised your full name and hospital were visible on the scan pic - we've taken it down as a precaution.

Hey op. I know it's an old post but I'm going through something similar. Was everything ok?
