NT measured 3.8mm

Hi. I'm 11weeks and 2 days pregnant. Due to having 2 miscarriages last year I decided yesterday I wanted to pay for a scan for reassurance as my NHS scan is not for another 3 weeks. The sonographer said the fluid behind baby's neck is measuring 3.8mm and the normal range is 1 to 3.5mm. Has anyone else been in this situation and baby was ok or the fluid corrected itself? T.I.A

Don't google.

Try to get your NHS scan earlier if you can. Get your GP on board.

Try not to worry and best of luck.

DP seems to think there is nothing to worry about and due to the scan being from a private business they were trying to sell me their tests. They were quick to hand a price list to us x

I think i commented on a different post of yours just now.

How many weeks were you when they measured the NT? if the baby measured 45 mm or over then the NT can be assessed, If the baby was under 45 mm - the sonographer should never of measured it.

If the CRL was 45 mm or over then you need to contact the screening midwife at the hospital and tell them as you will be automatically put into the higher risk category and offered further testing if you wish to have it. if the baby was under 45 mm - the NT should not of been imaged and i would ask them to bring your scan forward as you will be over 14 weeks in 3 weeks time and miss the 1st trimester screening. Good Luck x

Hi shinybadger I was 11 weeks and one day pregnant. I've managed to get my scan brought forward as to next week. Hopefully all will be ok xx

Hi, I am glad you have brought your scan forward. I hope it is all ok for you, if you are going to google anything look at the FASP NT screening information on the government website that’s where the best information is.
Will be thinking of you. X

Thank you for all of your advice xx

Hello Doofy!
I hope you have had some more information on your baby and some reassurance by now. I was just wondering if you had any updates ?
I'm 14 weeks and 4 days pregnant and at my dating scan was told my baby had a NT measurement of 3.6. So just slightly over "safe zone"!
My bloods came back low risk but now that everything has been planted in my head I can't stop thinking about it!

Doofy · 10/09/2018 13:53

Hi Nikolinax. Its awesome news it's come back low risk as it's a combined test with the size of NT and your blood test!! I'm sure everything will be ok. I had another scan and the NT was down to 2.7mm but I'll feel better when I have my combined test results. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy x

Doofy- aww that's great news, I hope everything stays like that for you :)

Yeh thanks, I'm trying to stay calm, this is my first pregnancy and I never even thought of all the things that could happen during pregnancy! I've paid £570 to have the nipt blood test done privately so just waiting for those results now, and my scan isn't until end of October :/ do you think I could bring it forward if I asked ? X

Doofy · 10/09/2018 17:25

You could certainly try. This was my dating scan I brought forward as I'd paid privately for a scan as I'd had 2 miscarriages last year and I was desperate to know baby was ok. First time pregnancy is terrifying this is my third and it's no easier albeit being 10 years since I had my youngest. Keep positive and keep me posted xx

@Nikolinax how are you doing? I got my results through and I'm low risk. 1 in 50 000 for Edward's and pateaus and 1 in 337 for downs x

@Doofy
Hello, I'm so sorry for the late reply, had a lot going on this week! Aww that's good I'm happy for you. How are you feeling about it all now after the results?

I'm still waiting for the results from my private harmony test, been waiting over two weeks now, so I'm getting really annoyed. I will let you know once I get the letter with the results :) x

Doofy · 22/09/2018 09:40

That's a long time to wait however as the old saying goes no news is good news. Let me know as soon as you know. Thinking of you

@Doofy
Hi again ;)
Just got my results- they came back as 1 in 10000 chance for all three conditions!
The combined test gave me 1 in 2777 for Down’s but this private test has obviously come back much lower probability so I'm feeling a lot better after seeing the numbers.

Doofy · 22/09/2018 18:45

@Nikolinax I'm so happy for you that's amazing news. I bet you feel like you're walking on air xx
