Hi, I'm hoping someone can share their story and give me some hope. I'm 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant and on Tuesday attended our scheduled 12 week dating scan where we choose to go ahead with the screening this discovered our baby had an NT fluid measument of 5.5mm and we was refered to a specialist for a second opinion who we saw on Wednesday. The specialist confirmed the devastating news that there is a significant amount of fluid and things don't look good and baby has high risk of downs and a chromosomnal abnormalities. We was given the option of the CVS placenta fluid test but advised this is not recommended because of where my placenta is lying, and also the amnio test at 15 weeks or we could go private and pay for NIPT test to get more accurate results of downs and other chromosome abnormalities. We decided to pay private and today have had this screening done, we saw the specialist there who was very helpful and advised she doesn't think our baby has downs, Edwards or pataus and instead thinks the baby is a girl and may have Turners syndrome. We had thought that we was going to have to terminate the pregnancy but after seeing the private specialist today feel a little bit of hope as she also advised that if all results come back clear it could just be the cystic Hygroma and in some cases this resolves its self. We are in turmoil at the moment and struggling to find positive outcome stories. We have to wait 5 working days for the results and also booked back in with the NHS specialist for a 17 week scan in 5 weeks time. I suppose I'm looking for some positive info on similar stories as at the min I can only think of the worse case scinero 😭

Our DD has nuchal translucency of 4mm, we had CVS and heart scans which were all clear

She’s an older baby now and perfect 😊

It’s so hard with all the worrying I know, I hope that all goes well for you. We were offered an extra, early anomaly test which was clear too and felt a bit better after that

Should say “had nuchal translucency”. I remember all the worrying and it was awful but turned out wonderfully in the end

Thank you, did the fluid just resolve its self in your case or was your baby born with some excess fluid still on her neck x

Completely resolved for us. By the 18 week scam they said it looked normal

Right up to the day she was born I was a bit worried though!

Everything crossed for you.

Thank you so much, I feel a bit better now google just seems to bring up all the negative outcomes so it's nice to hear a good one x
