And does it really give a good indication of DS or do you need the blood test combined to get any kind of accurate idea? Mine was 2.2mm but I have no clue what it ‘should be’..?

To give a reasonable idea of the risks of DS the NT has to be combined with the blood tests, even then it's just a statement of probability, not a certainty, but can help you decide if you want to go for any further testing.

We were told that an NT >3.4mm was an independent risk factor for structural defects, things like heart disorders. Ours was 3.5mm and we were referred to foetal medicine for more scans and eventually an amniocentesis. I understand that the risks rise as the NT gets greater.

I have twins and My twin 2s NT was 6.1mm. Twin 1s was 1.8mm. Twin 2 screening have him a 1:14 risk of DS, we had numerous other tests done which were all clear, including an amnio at 29 weeks. We got bombarded with negative and very upsetting information, spoken to about selective reduction etc. Decided to see how everything went, finally born at 34w and nothing wrong with either twin. Sometimes it can just be one of those things. Good luck op.
