Hi I had a private specialist scan at 17 weeks told definitely a boy and got a potty shot had a massive gender reveal party now NHS scan 21 weeks and said it looks to them as a girl. We have obviously bonded and bought stuff for a boy and I don't really have a preference as Im happy baby is healthy just really impatient and very confused and dying for more opinions????? First 17 week potty scan followed by second xxx

I think a boy

Missjlanderson · 08/09/2017 15:25

Well I'm all up for being wrong, but the last picture is what made me go that way. It just looks a bit more uneven between the legs.

But either way congratulations! Grin

Missjlanderson · 08/09/2017 15:44

Thank you 💃🏻

That's exactly what I thought that's why I'm just not 100%

A lot of the places that do a gender scan, if you have another scan and it says different they will redo for you to double check. I would call them and ask for rescan so you can be sure x

gamerchick · 08/09/2017 15:50

You won't be 100% until your baby is born if you're just going on scans.

Don't worry about buying stuff for a boy. Even if it's a girl she won't care what stuff there is.

Missjlanderson · 08/09/2017 15:52

I know. We got in touch with private clinic been compensated and rebooked for a bonding scan they done a re-scan and said it was looking more like a girl now but couldn't be 100% as could be hiding but apologised

The last shot looks like a girl with the three lines, and at 21 weeks is more accurate than 17.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 10/09/2017 00:17

No expert but I would say a girl as all boy scans I have seen at 20 weeks have been very obviously a boy and I can't see and boy bits on any of your scans.

HurtyTeeth · 10/09/2017 00:36

That last photo makes me think it's a girl.
It looks like how my DD was scanned and when I asked how could the sonographer be sure the baby was a girl, she replied "because of the 'line'" - referring to where the labia meets.
Plus, in my experience, a boy has a large prominent blob between his little legs. I couldn't miss it!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2017 00:52

It looks like a baby. Don't worry, you'll bond with your child whether you know the sex now or not, and a girl baby will be perfectly happy with 'boy stuff' or vice versa.

reallyanotherone · 10/09/2017 00:54

I go with transgender. Or gender fluid.

crumpet · 10/09/2017 01:12

Are scans 100% reliable now? Certainly had to be taken with a massive pinch of salt when I was pregnant

NoSquirrels · 10/09/2017 08:49

Friends of ours were told girl & got a boy ... you'll bind, and it will be a fun story to tell eventually! Just buy a free sets of clothes that aren't too obviously boy/girl themed and you'll be fine.

NoSquirrels · 10/09/2017 08:50

bind = bond

Somersetlady · 10/09/2017 08:54

I woukd advise people NEVER to have a gender scan. Get the blood test if you want to know its 99% reliable!

We had 2 scans at 20 weeks both said girl. Scanned every fortnight then as breech. Prepared totally for a girl.

At birth we had a boy (with no name for 3 days) and part of me felt like I had lost a girl that we had been waiting for.

He was back to back breech so that probably had somethjng to do with the confusion!

I would not get another scan if you really want to know get the blood test.......

Missjlanderson · 12/09/2017 07:03

Very helpful. What's the blood test?

Devonishome1 · 18/09/2017 20:48

We was told that we were having a boy but was a girl!

MadameJosephine · 19/09/2017 23:11

Looks like agirl to me, that first shot is taken at an odd angle

JamdaniSari · 04/10/2017 15:44

This is why I'm not going to find out!

Roxx1516 · 11/10/2017 21:28

I think the last shot looks like a girl. Where would I get a blood test done to find out gender ? Can I just ask midwife to book me in for this blood test ??

MadameJosephine · 22/10/2017 19:17

As far as I am aware the only blood test that could tell you the sex of your baby would be as part of a NIPT which is a screening test available privately at a cost of about £400. Tbh I think ‘gender’ scans should just be seen as a bit of fun and you’ll get what you get at the end
